Raising money to send underprivileged Tibetan children to school

From a life in poverty, these high achieving students are faced with a future of failed dreams, hard labor and short life for the lack of a small amount of money.  Donations large and small can make it possible for these kids to escape poverty.  They will become the health providers, the teachers, the builders and the leaders of a new, modern Tibet.

Read these stories and cry or shout with joy.  You can be a part of this and reap the reward of a spiritual uplift and a warm heart, knowing you have made an important difference in a life, a big difference.  You will be thanked, remembered and blessed by that person all of their life.

This is a personal quest for me, Richard Harlan.  It is an outgrowth of my trips to Tibet as a tourist where I found a most wonderful, generous culture, yet one with many needs.  I have devoted my own meager funds to the educational needs of over 20 children and now I need help.  As I travel around Tibet to see my kids, new stories are brought to me of more outstanding students who are on the verge of dropping out for lack of the cost of tuition or transportation.  I am compelled to do my best to help them as best I can.  I am asking for your support through a cash donation.

My program is miniscule, I know.  The needs are so great.  But helping even one child is worth a lot,  taking him by the hand  before he slips over the edge, one child at a time.  My eyes tear up when I read their stories, when they write me letters, when they take me by the hand to walk through the village.  I leave with a warm heart and lump in my throat and just hope they can pull through the challenges that lie before them.  So far, they all have.  You can be a part of this.

In this web, I tell about myself, my kids and my program objectives.  I link this with my main Tibetan travel site and to other worthy sites, but for now, let me give you the essentials.

  1. This is a private effort with no religious affiliation and no political agenda.
  2. There are no salaries or expenses paid out of donations.  All donations, every penny, is handed directly to the beneficiary or trusted relative, either in cash or bank transfer.
  3. It costs $250 per year for middle school, $500 per year for high school, $1,000 per year for college and $3000 per year for university.  This includes, tuition, books, dormitory, food, transportation, clothing allowance and spending money.
  4. This is not a tax deductible charity.  That requires many forms, fees and tax returns.  I have no way to handle bank cards, only personal checks and money orders, each of which will be acknowledged.
  5. Make checks payable to Richard Harlan or Kham Fund and mail to Richard Harlan, 2649 N. Snow Goose Way, Meridian, ID 83646. Telephone: (208) 884-4969.  rharlan33@gmail.com
