About Me

My name is Richard Harlan.  I am a retired widower, living in a suburb of Boise, Idaho.  I have three children, five grandchildren.

I was born and raised in Iowa, but spent my working years in Southern California.  When I retired from aerospace engineering and business management in 2001, I moved to Idaho.

I have visited China each year since 2003, traveling around the Kham and Amdo regions of eastern Tibet. I travel on my own, mostly by bus and staying in homes or small hotels.
